Ad accounts and spend sync

Updated

Spend from the checked accounts is read every 30 minutes (last 2 days) and reviewed every night, in your organization’s time zone, covering 28 days. Campaigns, ad sets and ads update every hour. The accounts are in Settings › Integrations, in the Meta connection, under Ad accounts.

Step by step

  1. Open the connection’s accounts

In Settings › Integrations, click the name of the Meta connection (or the ⋯ menu › Ad accounts).

  2. Check the accounts

The list shows the Account, Currency, Time zone and Warnings for each account the token can see. Check the ones that should go into your reports.

  3. Save the selection

Click Save selection. Spend from the checked accounts comes in with the next sync.

  4. Force a read if you need to

The Sync button next to each account requests a read right away. In Analytics › Campaigns, Sync now does the same for the whole organization.

The overnight review exists because Meta keeps adjusting spend for previous days. That’s why yesterday’s number can change a little the next morning.

The footer of Analytics shows how long ago the ads were synced. If more than 3 hours go by without a sync, the Ads out of date badge appears.

Warnings in the account list

  • Different time zone: the account is in a different time zone from the organization. Its days don’t line up with the dashboard’s, so its spend is excluded from totals (and has no hourly data).
  • Currency (e.g., “Currency EUR”): the account spends in another currency. Its spend shows up when you pick that currency in reports; TraceClose doesn’t do currency conversion.
  • No access: the token can no longer see the account. When you save, it’s removed from the sync; spend already imported stays in the dashboard. If access comes back, check it again.

Example

Fictional example: Example Co. works in the New York time zone and in US dollars. The account “Example - US” (USD, New York) goes into the totals normally. The account “Example - Europe” (EUR, Paris) shows two warnings: Currency EUR and Different time zone. It can stay checked, but its spend is excluded from the dollar totals. If the European campaign matters, the manager can change the account’s time zone in Meta to the organization’s.

One account, one connection

Each ad account can be synced by only one connection. If you try to check an account that’s already in another connection, you’ll see Account already synced by another connection: uncheck it here or remove it from the other connection before saving. The number of checked accounts also follows your plan’s limit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the spend in TraceClose the same as in Ads Manager?

It should match after the daily review, as long as the account is in the same time zone and currency as the organization. During the day, it can be up to 30 minutes behind.

Can I uncheck an account without losing its history?

Yes. Spend already imported stays in the dashboard; the account just stops being synced.

Why is an account in a different time zone excluded from totals?

Because Meta’s days would be counted in another time zone and wouldn’t line up with the days of your leads and sales. TraceClose would rather leave it out than add up mismatched days.
