Connect

Manage connections: test, edit, disable and delete

Updated

All connections live in Settings › Integrations. Each one has a Test button and, in the ⋯ menu, Edit, Disable (or Reactivate) and Delete. A connection that has already sent conversions can’t be deleted, only disabled.

What the list shows

The Connections table has the columns Connection, Functions, Status, Credentials, Last sync and Actions. Click the connection name to open its details: ad accounts (Meta), webhook URL and visits tag (Site).

StatusWhat it means
ActiveWorking: syncs spend and sends conversions (or receives what your website sends).
Invalid credentialsThe platform rejected the token (invalid, expired or missing permissions). Add a new one in Edit.
DisabledDoesn’t sync spend or send conversions. Everything stays saved so you can reactivate it later.

One connection, several functions

The same Meta BM can bring in spend (Ads source) and receive conversions (Conversions destination). The Site connection has Lead source and Website visits. You check and uncheck functions in Edit. If a function is still in use (synced ad accounts or pending conversions), the dashboard warns This function can’t be removed right now: uncheck the accounts or wait for the conversions to go out, then try again.

Test

The Test button checks the credentials with the platform right away. You’ll see that the credentials were accepted or that they were refused. It’s only enabled when the connection has credentials saved.

Edit and replace the token

In Edit, saved credentials aren’t shown: fill in only what you want to change. The new token is verified before it’s saved. A connection’s platform can’t change after it’s created; for another platform, create another connection.

Disable or delete

  • Disable: the connection stops syncing spend and sending conversions. Credentials, settings and selected accounts stay saved. On a Site connection, requests from your website start being refused and the tag stops counting visits.
  • Reactivate: it starts working again. If the last check had refused the credentials, the platform is checked again first.
  • Delete: deletes the credentials, and the accounts stop being synced by that connection. This can’t be undone.

A connection that has already sent conversions can’t be deleted, because their history must be kept. In that case, disable it.

Example

Fictional example: Example Co. switched to a new BM. The manager creates the “New BM” connection with the new token, unchecks the accounts in “Old BM”, checks them in the new one and, since the old one has already sent conversions, uses Disable on it instead of Delete.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have two Meta connections?

Yes, for example one per BM. The same ad account just can’t be in both.

What happens to my data when I disable a connection?

Nothing is deleted: imported spend and the conversion history stay in the dashboard.
